Mesh Variants, Advantages, Disadvantages.

There are many different types of mesh, and ways to string mesh floating out there. The way mesh is named depends on the largest number of diamonds there are in a row. 10 diamond mesh has at tops 10 diamonds across, and at lowest 9 diamonds. So it is called 10 diamond. The main different types of mesh out right now are:

10 Diamond Mesh- The largest diamond count other than micro mesh, has the lowest hold due to smaller diamonds, but has decent accuracy and the smoothest/fastest release out of all meshes.

8 Diamond Mesh- A nice blend of mesh, contains a very satisfying blend of speed/release and hold.

7 Diamond Mesh- Also known as mid-monster mesh (Brine's 7 Diamond model), almost impossible to break in, but when broken in is one of the nicest meshes around, I highly recommend jimalax's 7 diamond over Brine's.

6 Diamond Mesh- One of the more popular meshes, contains a bumpy release, but a very nice hold. When strung wrong, can contain quite a bit of whip.

5 Diamond Mesh- The widest diamond mesh available at the moment (does it need to get wider?!), considerably bumpy release, not too popular, most people prefer 6 diamond, the best hold of any mesh.

Catapultion Mesh- Your basic ten diamond mesh coated to double thickness, retains all of the great things that 10 diamond mesh had with rough weather protection built in, a bit harder to break in, also tends to get soft faster than most meshes.

American Mesh- American mesh is the same concept as catapultion, however for soft mesh. Twice the thickness.

Micro Mesh- Gazillions of tiny holes in a piece of mesh. Not the greatest idea ever, silky smooth release when strung properly, but its best just to avoid.

Soft Mesh- Appears to only come in 10 diamond, this mesh has no coating on it and therefore is, well soft. It is very loose and highly whippy, if not strung properly it is almost useless. High amount of control, favored by box players.
